Pregnancy and maternity care

If you’ve found out you are pregnant, it’s best to see a midwife as soon as possible.

You can book an appointment directly with a midwife service without seeing a GP first.

NHS maternity services

Most maternity services are run by hospitals or birth centres.

Maternity services are free and available to everyone.

You can find your nearest maternity service on the NHS website.

See things that NHS maternity services can help with
  • answer any questions you may have
  • checking the health of you and your baby
  • scans and tests, with your permission
  • your options and choices
  • helping you make a plan for the birth

Request an appointment at the surgery

If the services above are not suitable, you can request an appointment at the surgery.
